Blood Orange Carnival Palmer Recipe

One of our favorite things to do in the fall is going to the local carnivals that pop up in the area. So for our next Bev Bar Tuesday, we’re mixing up a twist on a fall fair favorite with fresh lemons and an elusively flavored herbal tea that makes for a flavor combination that’s unlike any other!

So here’s the thing… I’ve been dying to include blood oranges somehow, someway on our blog pretty much since I had the idea for the site! A few months before launching, I had made a batch of blood orange cupcakes that were really good, and I had originally planned a blood orange margarita for last year’s inaugural BOOzeday Tuesday… but when the time came to purchase supplies, blood oranges were nowhere to be found! (And thus, the Vampire’s Kiss Margarita was born.)

In fact, I haven’t been able to find blood oranges in any of our local stores since making those cupcakes! With their deep red interior, they lend themselves so perfectly to Halloween recipes, but being as they’re very out of season at this time of year, I’d all but given up on featuring them… until I found a blood orange and cranberry tea at Whole Foods!

Success! I love a good herbal tea, so was very excited to try this one, and as soon as I did, I had the inspiration for the Blood Orange Carnival Palmer. Freshly squeezed lemonade is good at any time of year, but especially at the carnivals that pop up around our area in the fall and this tea adds a tartness to the finish that’s unmatched.

And just like a lot of our drink recipes, the final flavor is totally up to you! You can add as much or as little of any of the components listed in the Blood Orange Carnival Palmer depending on your tastes, and still have a refreshing fall beverage that features a fruit I’m starting to doubt actually exists. Cheers!
